Goa Chief Minister Manohar
Parrikar shared a meal with HIV-positive children, to dispel the misconception
that the dreaded disease is transmitted by mere touch. The Chief Minister
shared lunch with more than 30 children at an orphanage. The children were in
the news recently after a section of parents of children studying along with
the HIV-positive children at a school in south Goa, had demanded their
suspension from the school.
Mr. Parrikar told that, he
will provide all support for these children. He said that, his sharing of meal
is to eradicate the belief that HIV spreads through touching or sharing meals. Mr.
Parrikar announced in the Legislative Assembly last month that he would share
meals with the children.
