Chief Minister Jayalalithaa
said her government would evolve a state youth policy. Ms. Jayalalithaa told
the Assembly that six youth awards – three for men and three for women –
between the age of 15 and 35 would be instituted in recognition of their
contribution to social development. The award would be presented on
Independence Day and it would carry Rs. 50,000 cash, a medal and a certificate.
