February 2013:
Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura
May 2013:
Karnataka
December 2013:
Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Delhi
The
above states are quite a representative spread across the country and a mixture
of Congress and BJP ruled states. Therefore, the political stakes are high in
2013. This is not just for the Congress and UPA but also for the main
opposition party, the BJP, which hasn’t quite presented itself as a
government-in-waiting.
There is much
confusion about who exactly will lead the BJP in the General Elections (Same in
Congress too)
As of now (Dec 31, 2012) Congress
rules in 6 States and 1 Union Territory with absolute majority while BJP rules
in 5 States. There are 28 States and 7 Union Territories
including the NCT. Of these, 28 States and 2 Union Territories
have their own legislatures. Here is the complete list of the political parties
and the number of states that they rule:-
