செயற்கை உயிர்

மகத்தான கண்டுபிடிப்பு ஒன்றை விஞ்ஞானிகள் உலகுக்கு வழங்கியுள்ளனர். ஆம்; உயிர் அணுக்களை விஞ்ஞானிகளே செயற்கையாக உருவாக்கிவிட்டனர். வேதியப் பொருள்களால் உயிரை உருவாக்க முடியும் என்ற இந்த மகத்தான சாதனை - விஞ்ஞான கண்டுபிடிப்புகளிலேயே மகுடமாகும். அமெரிக்காவின் புகழ் பெற்ற உயிரியல் விஞ்ஞானி கிரெய்க் வென்டர் (ஊசயபை எநவேடிச) தலைமையில் செயல்பட்ட 24 விஞ்ஞானிகள் அடங்கிய குழு, இந்த சாதனையை செய்து முடித்துள்ளது. இதில் மூன்று விஞ்ஞானிகள், இந்தியாவைச் சார்ந்தவர்கள். இதில் பெங்களூரைச் சார்ந்த இராதாகிருஷ்ண குமாரி என்ற இளம் பெண் விஞ்ஞானியும் ஒருவர். திருச்சி பாரதிதாசன் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் உயிர் நுண்ணியலில் உயர் பட்டப்படிப்பை முடித்து, இப்போது இந்தச் சாதனையை நிகழ்த்தியுள்ள அமெரிக்காவின் ஜெ கிரயக் வென்டர் நிறுவனத்தில் ஆய்வாளராக பணியாற்றுகிறார். இந்த உயிர் செல், முழுமையாக இரசாயனப் பொருள்களைக் கொண்டே செயற்கையாக உருவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கதாகும்.

உலகம் முழுதுமிருந்தும் விஞ்ஞானிகள் இந்த கண்டுபிடிப்பை உற்சாகத்துடன் வரவேற்றுள்ளனர். மதவாதிகளை இந்த கண்டு பிடிப்பு அதிர்ச்சிக்குள்ளாக்கியுள்ளது. அதன் காரணமாக அமெரிக்க அதிபர் ஒபாமா, மிகவும் அடக்கி வாசித்துள்ளார். அரசு இதுபற்றி விரிவாக ஆராய்ந்து 6 மாதத்தில் கருத்து தெரிவிக்கும் என்கிறார் ஒபாமா!

ரோமில் உள்ள கத்தோலிக்க மத நிறுவனத்தின் அதிகாரிகள், இந்தக் கண்டுபிடிப்பு வெளியான உடனே, கடந்த வெள்ளிக் கிழமை கருத்து தெரிவிக்கையில் இந்தக் கண்டுபிடிப்பை ஆக்கபூர்வமாகப் பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும் என்று, விஞ்ஞானிகளை எச்சரித்துள்ளனர்.

“உயிரைக் கடவுள்தான் தர முடியும்” என்று ரோம் கத்தோலிக்க நிறுவனத்தின் உயர் அதிகாரி ஒருவர், ‘ஏபிடி’ தொலைக்காட்சிக்கு அளித்த பேட்டியில் கூறியுள்ளார். கடவுளால் மட்டுமே உருவாக்கப்படக் கூடிய உயிர், அமெரிக்காவின் ஒரு சோதனைச் சாலையில் உண்டாக்கப்பட்டுவிட்டதற்கு இவர்களிடம் பதில் இல்லை. “கண்டுபிடிப்பை வரவேற்கிறோம்; ஆனால், இந்தக் கண்டுபிடிப்பு மனித வாழ்க்கையின் கவுரவத்துக்கும், மாண்புக்கும் எதிராகப் பயன்படுத்தக் கூடாது” என்று அந்த விஞ்ஞானிகள் புலம்பியுள்ளனர்.

மனிதனின் உடலிலுள்ள மரபணுக்களைப் பயன்படுத்தி, ஏற்கனவே உயிர் உண்டாக்கும் கண்டுபிடிப்புகளை விஞ்ஞானிகள் நிகழ்த்தியபோது, உயிரைத் தனியாக உண்டாக்க முடியாது. அது கடவுளால்தான் முடியும் என்று மதவாதிகள் கூறி வந்தனர். இப்போது சோதனைச் சாலையில் செயற்கையாகவே ‘உயிர் செல்’ கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டதற்கு, இவர்கள் என்ன சமாதானம் கூறப் போகிறார்கள்?

குளோனிங் முறை மூலம் ஒரு மனிதனை அப்படியே மறு உருவாக்கம் செய்ய முடியும் என்று விஞ்ஞானிகள் கண்டறிந்தாலும், அமெரிக்கா, அந்த சோதனைகளைத் தடை செய்துள்ளது. மனித சமூகத்தில் இது குழப்பங்களை உருவாக்கி விடும் என்று அரசுகள் அஞ்சுகின்றன.

புதிய விஞ்ஞான கண்டுபிடிப்புகள் மனித வாழ்க்கைக்கான அர்த்தங்களையே மாற்றி வருகிறது. சமூக உறவுகள் இந்தப் புதிய கண்டுபிடிப்புகளால், மாற்றத்துக்கு உள்ளாகி வருகின்றன. கடந்த மே 24 ஆம்தேதி வெளிவந்த ஒரு செய்தியை சுட்டிக்காட்ட விரும்புகிறோம். புதுடில்லியில் ஒரு தாய், தனது மகளின் கருவை, தனது வயிற்றில் சுமந்து வருகிறார். சோபனாவின் மகள் பாவிக்காவுக்கு 26 வயதாகிறது. பிறக்கும் போதே, பாவிக்காவுக்கு, கருப்பை இல்லை. இது தெரிந்தும், அவரது காதலர், அந்தப் பெண்ணை மணம் முடிக்க முன் வந்தார். ஆறு ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு செயற்கைக் கருத்தரிப்பின் மூலம் வாடகைத் தாய் வழியாக குழந்தை பெற்றுக் கொள்ள இந்த இணையர் முடிவு செய்தனர். ஆனால், வாடகைத் தாயை அவர்களால் கண்டறிய முடியவில்லை. கருவை வயிற்றில் வளர்த்து, குழந்தையை பிரசவித்துத் தரும் வாடகைத் தாயார்கள் மிக அதிகத் தொகையைக் கேட்டார்கள். மகளின் துயரத்தைப் போக்க அவரது தாயார் சோபனாவே முன் வந்தார். இப்போது சோபனாவின் வயிற்றில் வளர்வது ஒரு குழந்தை மட்டும் அல்ல; மூன்று குழந்தைகள். விரைவில் மகளுக்காக, தாய் மூன்று குழந்தைகளைப் பெற்றெடுக்கப் போகிறார். மகளை ஈன்றெடுத்தவரே மகளுக்காக அவரின் குழந்தைகளையும் பிரசவிக்கப் போகிறார். இதைத் தனது மகளுக்குத் தரும் உயர்ந்த பரிசு என்று, உளம் பூரிக்கிறார் சோபனா.

விஞ்ஞானம் இப்படி வளர்ந்தாலும் இந்த நாட்டில் மூடத்தனம், பரப்பப்பட்டுக் கொண்டே வருகிறது. பிரம்மா தான் உயிரைப் படைக்கிறார்; பிள்ளை இல்லாதவர்கள் குழந்தைகள் பெற சிறப்பு பூசை செய்ய வேண்டும். தோஷம் கழிக்க வேண்டும்; காசி, ராமேசுவரம் போக வேண்டும்; அரச மரத்தை சுற்றி வர வேண்டும். சோதிடத்தில் பிள்ளை ராசி இல்லை என்றெல்லாம் மூட நம்பிக்கைகளைப் பரப்பிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள். செயற்கை உயிர்களைக் கொண்டு மனிதர்களை உருவாக்க விஞ்ஞானம் வந்து விட்டது. ஆனால், ஒன்றை மட்டும் விஞ்ஞானிகளால் நிறைவேற்றவே முடியாது. அதுதான் கடவுளுக்கு உயிர் கொடுக்கும் முயற்சி; இல்லாத ஒன்றுக்கு எப்படி உயிர் கொடுக்க முடியும்?

SCALING THE SUMMIT CALLED “IAS”

As in any endeavour of significance, success in the Civil Services Examination, conducted by the UPSC, requires planning and execution. The test is highly competitive. The cream of educated youth vie for a career in the civil services, and a candidate has to prove his or her superior knowledge, skills and other attributes of suitability over those of the competitions.
It is desirable that the preliminary and main examinations are taken as a single unit for preparation. In the GS paper, questions on anything under the sun can be asked. Since no one can master everything, the focus areas should be carefully selected.
Selection implies judicious elimination of “unimportant” areas as well. With its inexhaustible content, GS demands concentration on the more probable areas from the point of view of the examination. Question papers of the previous examinations are the only sole guide in the matter. The trend may change but the previous question papers can still be an anchor to go ahead with the preparations. But no questions in GS papers have repeated so far is the important thing to be noted in this.
For many candidates, the examination proves to be a test of nerves, since they take it as a life-and-death struggle. For appearing in this examination, one should have confident at first. HARD WORK and SELF CONFIDENCE are the best medicines to clear this examination. Repeated revisions are a must.

உலக செஸ் சாம்பியன்ஷிப் தொடரை, மீண்டும் கைப்பற்றி அசத்தினார் இந்தியாவின் விஸ்வநாதன் ஆனந்த். பல்கேரியாவில் உள்ள சோபியா நகரில், இந்தியாவின் விஸ்வநாதன் ஆனந்த், பல்கேரியாவின் வெசலின் தபலோவ் மோதும், உலக செஸ் சாம்பியன்ஷிப் போட்டி நடந்தது. மொத்தம் 12 சுற்றுக்கள் கொண்ட இப்போட்டியின் 11 வது சுற்றின் முடிவில் ஆனந்த், தபலோவ் இருவரும் தலா 5.5 புள்ளிகள் பெற்றிருந்தனர். ஆனந்த் வெற்றி: நேற்று 12 மற்றும் கடைசி சுற்று ஆட்டம் நடந்தது. நடப்பு சாம்பியன் ஆனந்த் கருப்பு நிற காய்களுடன் விளையாடினார். விறுவிறுப்பாக நடந்த இப்போட்டியின் 56 வது நகர்த்தலில் தபலோவ் தோல்வியை ஒப்புக் கொண்டார். இதன் மூலம் 12 சுற்றுகளின் முடிவில் 6.5 புள்ளிகள் பெற்ற ஆனந்த் வெற்றி பெற்றார். இவ்வெற்றியின் மூலம் உலக சாம்பியன்ஷிப் பட்டத்தை தக்கவைத்துக் கொண்டுள்ளார் ஆனந்த். கடந்த 2008 ம் ஆண்டு நடந்த உலக சாம்பியன்ஷிப் போட்டியில், ரஷ்யாவின் விளாடிமர் கிராம்னிக்கை ஆனந்த் வீழ்த்தியிருந்தார். நான்காவது முறை: ஆனந்த் கைப்பற்றும் நான்காவது உலக சாம்பியன்ஷிப் பட்டம் இது. இதற்கு முன் கடந்த 2000, 2007 மற்றும் 2008 ம் ஆண்டுகளில் சாம்பியன் பட்டம் வென்றிருந்தார் ஆனந்த்.
