Indian Diplomacy caught in a deadlock

As the Devyani Khobragade episode over alleged visa fraud leads to a diplomatic logjam between India and the US, a look at incidents in the recent past that have led to straining of relations between India and other countries

On Feb 14, Mohamed Nasheed entered Indian high commission and sought asylum. He emerged only after diplomatic parleys ensured he would be allowed to take part in Presidential elections and legal cases will not be used to disqualify him.

Sri Lanka
Colombo sought dilution of the 13th amendment before the Northern Provincial council elections. There is also the now routine negotiation over arrested fishermen, as well as the annual strain over UNHRC resolution

China
On May 15, Chinese troops came into a remote part of the disputed India-China border in Ladakh. India demanded a return to status quo, and after 15 days, China withdrew
