Ajith's 'Billa 2' takes social media by storm
Fans of actor Ajith seem to be waiting for the his next, 'Billa 2', with bated breath. In just 24 hours, the teaser got a record 3,82,338 hits on YouTube. The title was also trending on social networking site Twitter for quite a while.
The prequel to 'Billa' (2007), directed by Chakri Toleti, 'Billa 2', is said to be about the birth and early life of the don and has Ajith, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah playing the lead roles.
After being postponed a couple of times, the film is now tentatively slated for release on May 25.
(Looks like Tamil filmmakers have understood the impact of social media, following the popularity and success of Dhanush's song 'Kolaveri di', and are now hoping to promote their movies using networking sites well before the release.)
The teaser apart from touching a 4 lakh mark within few hours of release also showcased a glimpse of his stunts.
"Believe me guys, in my career as a stunt man I was a real daredevil. But when I saw how Ajith jumped off a helicopter under those conditions and how he hanged on to it with one hand in the helicopter my blood froze in my veins", expresses an awestruck 'Billa 2' stunt man.
A press note states that this is the first time in Indian cinema that a top hero performed such a death defying stunt in a flying chopper at minus degrees temperature without a dupe!
What is the strategy behind Ajith's 'Billa 2' release?
In Entertainment, a Hinduja group company which has produced Ajith's 'Billa 2' is planning big to release the movie all over the world. The movie will hit the screens simultaneously in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka, apart from ther centers.
"Billa 2, currently in post production, is being readied for a summer release targeting simultaneous releases in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala along with North India and international markets," says an official press release. It adds: "The film will release as 'David Billa - The Beginning' in Andhra Pradesh as a Telugu dubbed version, as Tamil original language version in Kerala and both as Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions in Karnataka. International release and North India release shall be on English subtitled prints in order to generate wider audiences and a larger exposure to Tamil films."
"All territories have been sold at record prices for any Ajith film till date," the release says, adding that Sun TV has acquired the telecast rights.
Meanwhile, Aascar V Ravichandran, who will release the film in Tamil Nadu, said, "Billa 2 is a hugely anticipated summer release this year and we are very happy to associate with IN Entertainment for release of the film in Tamil Nadu. It is an Ajith starrer, part of the hugely popular Billa franchise and the first big film to hit screens post IPL this year. We are very excited about this association and are working towards giving the film tremendous publicity, marketing and promotional push in May."

Lokpal will only fill the jails -APJ Abdul Kalam
Former President APJ Abdul Kalam has criticised the call for a strong Lokpal Bill. He said that the Lokpal Bill would only serve to fill up the jails. "What Lokpal will do is that if it finds anyone guilty it would put them in jail, and jails will be filled up. What we want is nobody should go to jail as we want good human beings," Kalam said. Launching the Jharkhand Chapter of 'What Can I Give Mission', the missile man advised the children to make their homes corruption-free by preventing the members of their family from indulging in graft. Asking the children to take the oath that there would be no corruption in their families, Kalam told them to "say no" if they are given any inducement for any wrongdoing. "If you do that, corruption will go away in no time," he said, adding "home of ethics" would prevent filling up of jails. Stating that the youths are the great resource and hope of the nation, Kalam asked them to work for bringing happiness to their homes and keeping the environment clean. 31 per cent Indians suffer from poor quality of life: Survey
According to a Gallup survey, almost 31 per cent of Indian adults comprising 240 million people say they are "suffering" because of poor quality of life, though the country had a high growth rate of 6.9 per cent. The gap between the haves and have-nots may actually be widening, the survey said, releasing the results of its recent opinion poll in which nearly three-fourths or 73 per cent of the respondents perceived corruption as being widespread in the government. The polling firms' research categorised Indian respondents into three blocs "thriving," "struggling," and "suffering," according to how they rate their present and future lives. The poll indicates that the poorest and least educated are the ones who have considered themselves as belonging to the suffering class.
"The key factors affecting Indian citizens' well being are income, education and employment- all linked and influenced by the work place," Gallup chairman and CEO Jim Clifton said. Research reveals that Indians considered a 'good job' as being employed full time for an employer and in early 2012, 43 per cent of Indians had these good jobs. Some of the increase in suffering between 2011 and early 2012, it said, may be attributable to the timing of the 2012 survey, which was conducted before harvest time in parts of India, when many farmers likely had gone without pay for several months. However, that so many Indians rate their lives so poorly may seem inconsistent with the country's high levels of economic growth and its rising-star status in the global economy. The survey was based on interviews with about 5,000 Indians, age 15 or older.
